Harry, after Ken and Pete arrive: I would love to work all weekend, bu I'm just a spectator. 2) Paul, about not getting invited to Roger's garden party: We all started at the same time. Sal, who didn't get invited either: I've been here six years longer than you. Peggy, busy with work: They hate creative. 3) Greg, about dinner party place settings: I don't want to have a fight right now. Joan: Then stop talking. 4) Gene, who is missing five dollars: You people. You think money is the answer to every problem. Don: No, just this particular problem. 5) Pete points out a variety of potential clients to Don. Connie: By Golly, you're prickly. 9) Mrs. Ettinger, to Joan: The fact that Greg can get a woman like you makes me feel good about his future, no matter what happens. 10) Roger: My mother was right. Things We Should Have Said
- Christina Hendricks did actually play the accordion, so the writers wanted to find a place for it in the show if they could
- We didn't mention how Ken observes Pete and Trudy dancing and says, "I have got to bring a date next time," which captures how the women are all building up the men in some way in this episode
- There's a reference to Sing Sing, a prison in Ossining, which has to be an allusion to the ways Don finds his suburban life confining
- Regarding Pete's reaction to Roger in blackface - while he wasn't amused like some others, we've seen Pete's disgust, and he doesn't hide it well. This isn't overt disapproval.
