Sterling Script Lines - S2: Episode 9
1) Hollis: Some people just hide in plain sight.
2) Joan, to Roger about Marilyn: A lot of people felt like they knew her. 3) Roger, about Marilyn: She was a movie star who had everything and everybody and she threw it away. 4) Betty, to Don: I thought you could talk anybody into anything. 5) Peggy, to Freddy: It's over. No reason to talk about it. 6) Carla, to Betty: You know what helps? Splash cold water on your face and go outside. You notice things are right where you left them. 7) Don, to the office guys mocking Freddy: Can't you find something else to do besides dining on the drama of other people's lives? Harry: Sorry, Don. It's funny. Don: Sure. It's just a man's name, right? 8) Freddy: To Monday morning. It'll be here faster than you think. 9) Freddy: I'm not kidding, Don. What am I gonna do? If I don't go into that office every day, who am I? 10) Don, to Roger: It's your life. You don't know how long it's gonna be, but you know it's got a bad ending. You have to move forward. As soon as you can figure out what that is. |

Things We Should Have Said
- Peggy does mention she wants to tell Don about Freddy's accident in the moment, but Pete stops her. Later, Don is irritated that he didn't find out sooner and had to learn about it from Duck and Roger. Peggy wasn't trying to keep the secret, but Don is petulant as he promotes her because of it. It's a small lesson about ensuring she's loyal to her boss in the future.
- We should say that Jane is a very competent secretary, even if she seems to be trying to get too personal too quickly, if only to collect information about Don to pass to Roger.
- There is a widely used gif of Don Draper raising a glass with a big smile, which comes from this episode while Don, Roger, and Freddy are out drinking together.
