Mad Men, Episode 4 pits Pete against three forces: Don as they work on a plan for Bethlehem Steel, and Trudy and both sets of parents to finance a new apartment. If you're keeping score - and we know Pete always is - Pete's losing. And if most of your compliments come from the neighbor kid with dubious social skills, you might also be losing. What have you done with it? 4) Trudy (about Pete's father's health problems): Oh, Sweetheart, what's wrong with him? Pete: Nobody knows. 5) Pete: Direct marketing. I thought of that. It turned out it already existed, but I arrived at it independently. 6) Pete: And then I come to this place and you tell me that I'm good with people, which is strange, because I've never heard that before. 7) Sal (to Pete): You picked the wrong time to buy an apartment. 8) Don (to Roger): Remember Pete Campbell's last day? It's today. 9) Bert (to Don): How much do you know about Pete Campbell's family? Don: Nothing, except they put out a mediocre product. 10) Roger (to Pete): You were fired. I wanted you out. Cooper wanted you out. And you would be if it weren't for this man. He fought for you. |
