Jenna: Welcome to Mad Men C to Z Season 4, Episode 4, The Rejected. This episode was written by Keith Huff and Matthew Weiner, and directed by John Slattery. This is his directorial debut.
This episode takes place in late February of 1965.
 
Steve: The episode kicks off with Don and Roger working on a speakerphone with Lee Garner Jr. from Lucky Strike.

Let's get started with Mad Men, C to Z.
 
Jenna: Welcome to Mad Men, Season 4, Episode 2, Christmas Comes But Once a Year.
This episode was written by Tracy McMillan and Matthew Weiner, and directed by Michael Uppendahl.
 
The episode opens showing Betty with Henry and the kids choosing a Christmas tree. I really notice how Henry is doing stuff with Betty, family stuff, like picking out the Christmas tree as a family.
Later, we'll see that they've all been out together somewhere for the evening. And of course, Don opted out of so many family things. And in contrast, Henry seems happy to be there.
 
Steve: It does feel like a real contrast between the life Betty lived with Don, and always wondering where he was, and now where she's with a much more conventional man, who wants a much more conventional life with her.
And I also get the sense that this is more in alignment with Betty's expectations of what marriage would be like.
